Additional Training Opportunities

All OC Read volunteers must complete four hours of professional development training per calendar year. Below is a list of possible ways to accumulate hours. To receive credit for completing an activity, please report the time spent and the name of the activity in your monthly report under Tutor Training Time. Some activities may require additional steps to receive full credit.

Device Advice

Credit: 1 hour
If you would like assistance becoming familiar with a specific virtual platform or resource, schedule a technology help session with one of our OC Read staff members. Device Advice is open by appointment to all OC Read program participants. Call OC Read staff to schedule a virtual or in-person meeting. Examples of topics we can cover: How to use Zoom or Google Meet, How to use Libby ebooks and eaudiobooks, How to screenshare in Zoom or Google Meet, etc.

Challenger Teacher’s Manual

Credit: Varies
If you are using the Challenger series with your learner, the time you spend reviewing the teacher’s manual counts towards your additional training. Be sure to track your time and report it accordingly. 

The Change Agent Teaching Tips
